The Mosques in the Palestinian Authority-Administered Territories are Platforms for Spreading Hatred and Propaganda:

Palestinian TV, Controlled by the Palestinian Authority, Broadcast Live Another Extremist Friday Public Sermon Given by Sheikh Ibrahim Mudeiras. Like His Previous Sermons, It Also Dripped Venom and Was Full of Anti-Semitic, Anti-Israeli Propaganda Based on Traditional Islamic Thought.

Anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli propaganda continues to be spread from the mosques in the PA-administered territories . A recent example is the public sermon given in Gaza City on Friday, December 12, 2003, by Sheikh Ibrahim Mudeiras Mahmud ‘Awkal, a young Islamic cleric identified with Hamas. The sermon was broadcast live by Palestinian TV which is controlled by the Palestinian Authority. In his venomous sermons he makes no distinction between the State of Israel, the Jewish people and the Zionist movement.

Following are the main points of the public sermon given by Sheikh Ibrahim Mudeiras at the Zaid Bin Sultan Aal Nahyan (named after its benefactor, the current ruler of the United Arab Emirates) mosque in Gaza:

“Allah's curse is upon the Jews. It was they who incited the civil war in the land of Hijaz [the western coastal region of the Saudi Arabian peninsula which lies along the Red Sea and comprises the sacred cities of Mecca and Medina]. They [the Jews] incited the Arabians [Arabian tribes] to fight Islam and to make war on the prophet Mohammed to drive them [the first Moslems] out of all Hijaz. First the Jews incited the Arabian tribes against the Moslems and then they incited their own people, the Banu Qurayza, against them.

“It is historical fact that the Jews are not satisfied unless they manage to foment civil wars all over the world. They were the ones who convinced the United States to wage war on Islam on the pretext of fighting terrorism. They were the ones who incited Britain to wage war on Islam and Moslems , they are inciting Europe and even the Arab nations to wage war on Islam. We warn you, Arabs and Moslems, of the cancer [i.e., Israel] which has already spread to Palestine , lest it next spread to Arab and Moslem nations. The poison of world Zionism has already begun spreading to your villages and cities and has even infiltrated your government institutions .”

“It is up to you, Arabs and Moslems, to be vigilant, because our battle is not only with the Israeli government but with something much larger; it is with world Zionism, which has begun to rule the decision-makers. World Zionism rules the [United Nations] Security Council, the American government and many Western and other nations of the world .”

“The Jews are behind civil wars causing destruction in the world . What have the Arabs gained from the Jews so far? Furthermore, what did the Jews gain from their own people? Is not destruction [and self-destruction] their nature? Today we ask, what [benefit] has the United States reaped from its [negative] stance against the Palestinian people and the Arab and Moslem nations? What did it gain from its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Everything [that has happened only] helps the cancer [i.e., Israel] in the Middle East. It will bring destruction and catastrophe to the United States, just as the Jews have brought catastrophes upon themselves. In the words of the prophet [ hadith , an authorized saying of Mohammed]: ‘Today we will attack them and not they us,' and he purified Medina of Jews. Has not the time arrived for Arabs and Moslems to do the same to the Israeli Jews? Has not the time arrived for them to purify their countries and their lands from the Jewish slime once they have rid blessed Palestine of it? ”

The Banu Qurayza were one of three Jewish tribes living in the Arabian peninsula at the dawn of Islam who refused to accept the Islamic message of the prophet Mohammed and allegedly helped his enemies. The Moslems attacked the Banu Qurayza, (the other two tribes were expelled and their property was confiscated) and blocked their streets for twenty-five days. When the Jews expressed readiness to accept the surrender terms which had been conceded to the other two Jewish tribes, namely cession of their belongings and departure with safe conduct, Mohammed appointed Sa'ad ibn Mu'izz as arbiter, and he ruled that all Banu Qurayza men should be beheaded, that the women and children should be sold as slaves, and that their property should be divided among the Muslims. It should be noted that Tchernichovsky, the famous modern Jewish poet dedicated a poem called “The Last of the Qurayzas” to this tribe.

Ibrahim Mudeiras Mahmud ‘Awkal – a Portrait

Ibrahim Mudeiras Mahmud ‘Awkal is a young cleric (32 years old), an Islamic extremist who habitually attacks Israel, the Jewish people and the United States in venom-dripping terms. His public sermons praise and glorify the suicide bombing attacks and attackers, ask Allah to take revenge upon the Jews and demand the destruction of Israel. His Friday public sermons in Gazan mosques are often broadcast live by Palestinian TV. Mudeiras, although identified with Hamas, is employed by the PA's Ministry of Religious Endowments. It should be noted that his brother, Nabil Mudeiras ‘Awkal , is a Hamas operative who was arrested by Israeli forces in 2000. During interrogation he admitted that while studying in Pakistan he was enlisted into the ranks of al-Qaeda , underwent training in Afghanistan and was sent by bin Laden's organization to the Gaza Strip to establish a terrorist infrastructure there.
